Syracuse, Ny – Like anyone who grew up in the lake country, Patricia Redhead knows the snow.
But not like that.
“It’s unprecedented, I must say,” said Redhead, supervisor in the County of Oswego de Palermo. “Usually you breathe and you can clean it and get a day or two to rest. It is only one day after another. »»
The snow has been relentless in Palermo, falling on 12 of the last 13 days, according to the files of the National Weather Service. At 77.8 inches, the city is the most snowy place in the center of New York so far this month.
“And it goes down in buckets,” said Redhead this morning.

This is the point of view of the home of Faithh Reome, in the city of the County of Oswego de Palermo. The city had 78 inches of snow and counting this month, the highest total in the center of New York.Faith Reome
Palermo could get another 2 to 3 feet of snow until Wednesday, depending on the forecasts for the weather service. The whole County of Oswego is under a snow warning with a lake until 6 a.m. Wednesday.
A few days in the past two weeks, Palerme had only one thumb or two snow. But almost 19 inches fell on Tuesday, then 27 inches on Saturday.
“The road service is there every day,” said Redhead. “We had almost a 24 -hour race the other evening. They started at 3 a.m. and they did not stop before 11:30 p.m. and we sent them home to sleep for a few hours. »»
The snow of the lake effect tends to fall intensely in narrow bands that often lock in place, throwing snowfoot into a narrow strip while barely dusk the neighboring communities. Palermo had the dubious distinction of being on the path of two of these groups.

Another 2 to 3 feet of the lake effect could pass on Wednesday in the center of New York, a large part in the areas already hammered in last week with several feet of snow.National Meteorological Service
It was a season of epic lake effect on Tug Hill and the center of New York. The snowiest place in America this winter is the village of Lewis de Copenhagen, with more than 300 inches recorded so far.
Wind management is all that is hammered and does not do so, and this year, the winds tended to be further west than the North West. A storm in early January lost more than 5 foot of snow just north of Utica, not generally one of the big winners of the lake -effect snow.
Syracuse, on average the most snowy city in America, has 89.3 inches of snow so far this season. It is actually a little below 93.2 inch normal until February 16.
This 89.3 inch, however, is the most that Syracuse has seen at this stage since 2018. At this stage last year, only 31.2 inches of snow had fallen in Syracuse.
