With “1923” officially in history books, the history of the Dutton family officially goes to “1944”.
As previously announced, “1944” will be the next prequel “Yellowstone” in Paramount +, after “1883” and “1923”. The exact nature of history is maintained under Wraps, but it will undoubtedly immerse itself on the way in which the Second World War had an impact on the Yellowstone Ranch and the Duttons.
Spoilers for “1923”
In the final of the series of “1923”, it is revealed that Spencer Dutton (played by Brandon Sklenar) lost his wife Alex (Julia Schlaepfer), but still lives 45 years as he lifts their son. This son is John Dutton II, the father of the protagonist of “Yellowstone” John Dutton III. John II was 21 years old in 1944, making him a natural protagonist for the series. Likewise, Spencer would still be alive in 1944, but it remains to be seen if Sklenar would come back to play it. The actor is certainly a game, however.
“Listen, I know that ‘1944’ is one thing they plan to do here, and maybe we see Spencer in 1944,” said Sklenar Variety in an interview linked to the final. “This is something that I would be interested in doing.”
The decision to continue the prequel emissions “Yellowstone” does not surprise, because “1923” and “1883” performed well for Paramount. In addition to strong audience numbers, “1883” won three nominations at the Emmy and season 1 of “1923” won two Golden Globe Nod, one for the best dramatic series.
The prequelles also deepen the “Yellowstone” relationship by “Yellowstone” Taylor Sheridan with Paramount, where he is rich in a global agreement. “Yellowstone” ended after five seasons in December 2024, but the new “The Madison” series with Michelle Pfeiffer is on the way, while a Beth-Rip spin-off is in preparation. It was also recently reported that there had been early discussions on a spin-off of Kayce Dutton in CBS.
Sheridan also has the shows “Landman”, “Tulsa King”, “Mayor of Kingstown” and “Lioness” in Paramount +.
