Wisconsin votes to devote the requirement of the identification of voters in the constitution of the State

By Scott Bauer, Associated Press

Madison, Wisconsin (AP) – Wisconsin voters decided on Tuesday to devote the law on the identification of state voters in the constitution of the State.

The state also eliminated its senior education official, who will guide policies affecting kindergarten schools to the 12th year during the second term of President Donald Trump, will be elected Tuesday in a race between the holder supported by teachers and a critic supported by Le Républicain.

The two competitions had strong partisan divisions, although they attracted much less expenses and national attention than the race to control the Supreme Court of Wisconsin. The surveys closed at 8 p.m. CDT.

Here is an overview of the two competitions:

The long -standing law of the identification of voters devoted to the constitution of the State

The requirement for identifying the Wisconsin’s photo for the vote will be high from the law of the State to the constitutional amendment under a proposal approved by the voters.

The legislature controlled by the Republicans has placed the measure of the ballot and presented it as a means of strengthening the security of the elections and protecting the law against cancellations before the court.

Democratic opponents argued that photo identification requirements are often unjustly applied, making the vote more difficult for people of color, disabled and poor.

Wisconsin voters will not notice any change when they go to the polls. They will always have to present a valid photo identity document as they did under the law of the State, which was adopted in 2011 and came into force permanently in 2016 after a series of unsuccessful proceedings.

Placing the requirement for photo identification in the Constitution makes it more difficult for a future legislature controlled by Democrats to change the law. Any constitutional amendment must be approved during two consecutive legislative sessions and by a popular vote on a state level.

Republican legislators have celebrated the adoption of the measure.

“This will help maintain integrity into the electoral process, it doesn’t matter who controls the legislative assembly,” said senator Van Wanggaard, who co-wrote the amendment in a statement.

Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, who leads Trump’s efforts to reduce the federal government, also noted the result on his social media platform, X, saying: “Yeah!”

Wisconsin is one of the nine states where people must present the photo to vote, and its requirement is the strictest in the country, according to the National Conference of States Legislatures. Thirty-six states have demanding laws or asking voters a kind of identification, according to the NCSL.

According to an underlying, this was done to better reflect what students learn now, but the change was encountered with bipartite opposition, including Democratic Governor Tony Evers, who was previously the superintendent of the state himself. Evers did not make the approval in the race.

Kinser said the new standards had lowered the student mark and made more difficult to assess how schools and districts occur over time.

Underlying Kinser as nothing more than a lobbyist who does not care about public education. KINSER supports the school’s school and school program, to the Democrats, which opposes that these siphon programs needed money far from public schools.
