Wisconsin teacher allegedly groomed 13-year-old girl and sent hundreds of messages on Snapchat

A Wisconsin teacher was arrested for allegedly trying to groom a 13-year-old girl for sex by bombarding her with hundreds of Snapchat messages, including one in which he said he was ‘trying so hard to be appropriate’ .

Christian Enwright, 29, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a series of disorderly conduct charges after being accused of sending inappropriate messages — including 600 in just one week — to the seventh-grader, reported WISN.

Enwright, a science teacher at KTEC Middle School in Kenosha, allegedly began flooding the girl with messages and photos of himself shirtless in June of last year, according to a criminal complaint.

He made suggestive compliments about the girl’s appearance, particularly her legs, and regularly sent kiss and fire emojis, according to the complaint.

“I love seeing all that leg lol,” he reportedly wrote in one message, while another said: “Your dimples, cute ASF.”

“I’m trying so hard to be appropriate LOL,” Enwright allegedly said in a message followed by 15 red emergency light emojis.

Authorities were notified after the Kenosha County Department of Family Services received an anonymous complaint on Feb. 2 alleging Enwright had an inappropriate relationship with the student, the complaint states.

When asked about the messages, Enwright allegedly told cops he was “just trying to give her confidence and make her feel better about herself.”

Enwright was immediately suspended when the allegations surfaced and was fired last week, district officials said.

During his first court appearance, Enwright’s defense attorney tried to argue that the disorderly conduct charges didn’t fit the case. The judge rejected defense requests to have the charges dropped.

“For something to be disorderly, it must corrupt public morality and outrage the sense of public decency. And that’s exactly what we have in this case,” argued Kenosha County Assistant District Attorney Alexandra Smathers.

Enwright then posted his $5,000 bond and was ordered to appear in court again in July.

Meanwhile, the girl’s parents announced plans to sue the school district.

“It’s catastrophic for the family, it’s catastrophic for their child,” said their lawyer, Michael Karp.

“It’s not going to go away quickly and it’s something that’s going to stay with her for the rest of her life. Accountability is very important in a case like this.”
