Massachusetts will experience “dangerously cold wind chills” starting Friday night, according to the national meteorological service.

Service forecasters predict wind chills could be between 15 and 30 below zero.

“Be prepared for 30 to 50 mph northerly gusts in most areas, but 60 to 70 mph gusts for Cape & Nantucket tonight,” the service said.

The service also predicts that a “strong storm” is on its way to the state late Sunday night and Monday.

“The greatest risk of heavy snow will be returning indoors, particularly towards the Berkshires / Northern Worcester Hills,” the service forecasters said. “Rain is favored along the Boston-Providence corridor, but a brief period of snow is possible at the start. “
