A winter storm delivered a constant mixture of snow, gleeil and icy rain in the northeast of the United States on Saturday, but Sunday, the storm had moved offshore, leaving significant snow total in the region behind it in the region .
The forecasters had anticipated the heaviest snow and impacts around Boston, but dry air pushed early on Sunday, deploying the highest accumulations further north, said the Boston office of the National Weather Service.
Consequently, the prices of snowfall has lengthened from southwest to northeast, which prompted winter weather alerts to be interrupted earlier than expected. However, places like Bourne, Mass., About 60 miles south of Boston, recorded 6.5 inches of snow, said the meteorological service.
In New England, snowfall was more pronounced.
Landgrove, vt., Mesura 12.5 inches on Sunday, while East Wakefield, NH, reported 10 inches. Limerick in Maine received 9.9 inches.
In New York, the northern part of the state has seen some of the highest accumulations, with reports of nine or more in the county of Saratoga. Long Island has seen more moderate snowfall, with 4.8 inch recorded in the Berries Commack and Hampton, while Central Park and Kennedy Airport have each reported 5.1 inches.
The light snow and the icy drizzle persisted in certain areas before the storm moves east and the temperatures rose above the frost.
