Wink Martindale interviews Falcons defensive coordinator

Wink Martindale could return to the NFL.

Martindale accepted the defensive coordinator job at Michigan after parting ways with the Giants following the 2023 season and his unit put together two impressive performances to finish the season. They beat Ohio State 13-10 in their final regular season game, then beat Alabama 19-13 in their bowl game.

The Falcons seem to have noticed this work. Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports reports that the Falcons let’s interview Martindale for their vacant defensive coordinator spot. They fired Jimmy Lake this weekend after his first season with the team.

Martindale led the Giants’ defense for two seasons after spending four years as the Ravens’ coordinator.
