Microsoft deploys a monthly Windows 11 update which includes certain important updates of HDR support in the operating system. Updates allow you to keep HDR deactivated on all windows, but always broadcast an HDR video in all its glory, as well as more control over Dolby Vision.
The last KB5058499 update is available for all Windows 11 users at the moment if you have activated the option “Get the latest updates as soon as they are available” in Windows Update. Once it is installed, you can now switch the possibility of broadcasting the HDR video option even when HDR is disabled under Windows, allowing you to display HDR content from applications like Netflix or websites like YouTube without having to activate HDR through Windows.
Microsoft also updates Windows 11 HDR support to allow you independently switching to Dolby Vision management in content or through Windows. Dolby Vision was once forced inside the windows if you have activated it on your instructor, so it is pleasant to have the possibility of being able to activate or deactivate it.
These new options are ideal for people who simply deactivate Windows HDR because of its uneven support. I personally deactivate the HDR under Windows and I use the keyboard shortcut (Windows + Alt + B key) to activate it in the games that support it correctly, simply because I count on a variety of content capture tools for screenshots and screen recording that produces a washed image because they do not take care of HDR or do not provide individual.
Although HDR support in Windows has improved in the past year thanks to the latest batch of OLED monitors, I would always like to see game developers and Microsoft take HDR more seriously. HDR Auto is ideal for gamesBut it’s always a really delicate and manual process for HDR to work well on a variety of applications and games in Windows.
