San Jose – The last San Jose sharks have tried to keep a positive perspective this season. Even if the playoffs have been out of reach for months, they believe that they still have a lot to play, individually and in groups.
But do not be mistaken, this year was an absolute version for all the people involved.
“I don’t stop saying myself, you look back, I hope in a year or two, and we will almost be happy that we have lived there and get a lot of experience,” said Sharks Ryan Warsofsky coach. “And I think I’m going to think more when this 82nd game is finished.”
The Sharks played their 76th match on Saturday and lost for the 56th time because they granted five goals on the first 14 shots they faced during a 5-1 defeat against the Seattle Kraken before a crowd announced during the fans’ appreciation evening.
The Sharks dragged 2-1 after the first period before the start of the match, while Chandler Stephenson, Jaden Schwartz and Jared McCann all scored in 10:28 to help San Jose in the fifth consecutive defeat.
Sharks goalkeeper Alexandar Georgiev, playing in his 300th NHL match, granted four goals on the first 11 shots he faced and was withdrawn after Schwartz scored his 24th of the season at 11:36 a.m. from the second to give Seattle a 5-1 lead.
The frustrations of San Jose have passed while the winger of sharks William Eklund dropped the gloves with the winger Kraken Eeli Tolvanen with 34.6 seconds to do in regulations. The scrap metal sparked one of the biggest acclaim of the night.
Will Smith scored the only goal for the Sharks, who are now 12-25-2 at home this season. San Jose has two other home games this season, Monday against the Calgary Flames and April 16 against the EDMONTON Oilers in the season’s final.
The Sharks lost their first nine first games of the season in October, but fought to go 10-6-3 in the following five weeks, passing their record to 10-13-5 after a 2-1 victory in overtime against Washington Capitals at the top of the Eastern Conference on December 3.
But the season took a round of December 9 when the Sharks exchanged goalkeeper No. 1 Mackenzie Blackwood at the Colorado avalanche. The Sharks have lost nine of their next 10 games, and entering Saturday, had a NHL record 20-45-10.
The future could be Sarcelle, like the team’s slogan, but it has often been far away.
“It’s extremely difficult,” said Warsofsky before Saturday’s match. “I’m going to be honest with you, it was a challenge, and that’s something I learned from it. I know that it is in a different light as a chief coach, but when you are outside the playoff series, it is difficult during this time of year in the National Hockey League. ”
“You rely on your coaches, your staff,” added Warsofsky later. “Obviously, we are all in the same way, the players, the coaches, the organization, from top to bottom. We are together.”
The Sharks granted equal goals to Jared McCann and Andre Burakovsky in the 9:26 of the opening period before Smith scored his 14th goal of the season at 14:18.
Macklin Celebrini took a pass from Jack Thompson along the boards and fed Toffoli near the slit. Toffoli then put a shot on the net that goalkeeper Kraken Joey Daccord stopped, but Smith was there to direct the washer in the net to take a drought of eight games.
A positive for Sharks, at least overall, is that with the defeat of Saturday, they can finish the season not higher than the 31st in the general NHL classification. With 50 points and six games to play, San Jose can no longer finish before the predators of Nashville, who have 62 points and 23 victories of regulatory time, the first equality break. Sharks have only 14 regulation times.
“We have to play for our fans. We have to play for this organization, the people who have supported us through really difficult moments here in recent years,” said Warsofsky. “Yeah, we see the light at the end of the tunnel.”
