William and Harry Graham Craker’s bodyguard dies

An old bodyguard of the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex died.

Graham Craker worked as a close protection agent when Prince William and Prince Harry were children.

He also accompanied Diana, a hearse of the Princess of Wales to his funeral after his death in 1997.

The death of Mr. Craker was confirmed by his sons on social networks, who described him as “an incredible man” who “lived his altruistic life”.

In his replacement of memories in 2023, Prince Harry spoke with emotion of Mr. Craker while writing on his mother’s funeral.

He wrote: “The driver had to continue to stop so that the bodyguard could go out and erase the flowers from the windshield.

“The bodyguard was Graham. Willy and I really liked him.

“We have always called it crackers, as in Graham Crackers (sic). We thought it was hysterical.”

Mr. Craker, who was with the Princes of Balmoral on the death of Princess Diana, said in an interview that he was “incredulous” when he found his death.

Thinking about the funeral in the 2017 Diana documentary: the day we said goodbye, he said: “Most of the time, it was almost as if he was raining flowers. It was very poignant knowing that each of these flowers represents someone’s emotions in the crowd.

“We tried to use the wipers, but the driver had a lot of trouble seeing.

“I called the motorcycle escort at the front and I said that we have to stop. I removed the flowers from the hood and put them next to the road.”

In an interview with the New York Post, he added: “I stood at the back of the hearse and William looked up and recognized me.

“I looked towards him and I nodded. William was comforted that I was with his mother during his last trip.”

Mr. Craker served with metropolitan police for 35 years, retired in 2001.

He received the Royal Victorian order – a prize awarded to the people who served the monarchy personally.

His sons Graham and James wrote in homage: “He was an incredible man – our hero, our rock – and meant everything for us.

“Words cannot describe the pride that we feel about how he has lived his altruistic life, not only in his professional career but in his personal life, until the end.”
