Will Smith faced the most sadly famous moment of his career in March 2022 when, on what was to be his triumph night at the Oscars, he ended up prohibiting the academy for the Chris Rock slaps.
Three years later, he used the notorious meeting for fuel on his new album Based on a true story.
The guardian The newspaper reports that the first words of the album announce that “Will Smith is canceled”, before the actor begins to type with lines, which “I heard that he won the Oscar but he had to return it.”
Smith won the best actor Oscar in 2022 for his role in King RichardBut the titles were stolen by his altercation with the Rock guest presenter. Millions of people watched Smith compete with a joke made by Rock about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, then the actor went on stage and slapped rock before continuing to shout from his seat.
Smith was not invited to bring back his Oscar following the incident, but it was then forbidden to attend all the events related to the Academy of Arts and Cinema Sciences for a decade. And he voluntarily resigned from his membership in the Academy, while publishing a declaration of apology that he had dropped people.
The second song of the album, entitled “Are you looking at me?” Includes the lines:
“I took a lot, I’m back on top / You must have acclimatized / will not stop, my s ** t still hot / even if I will not be nominated.”
Rock has kept his advice on the incident until the release of his Netflix Special stand-up Selective contempt, in which he gave his opinion that Smith’s reaction had less to do with his remarks and more to do with the public examination of the Smith marriage.
