Will Smith performs new song at the BET Awards

Two years later, Will Smith made his triumphant return to the awards stage.

THE The prince of Bel-Air The alumnus performed on the BET Awards stage for the first time on Sunday, honoring fans with the live debut of his new track “You Can Make It” featuring Fridayy and Kanye West’s Sunday Service Choir.

Taraji P Henson emotionally introduced “my brother” Smith, who emerged amid a ring of fire as he prefaced the song.

“I don’t know who needs to hear this right now, but whatever’s going on in your life right now, I’m here to tell you, you can do it,” Smith said more than two years after the fallout from Chris Rock’s onstage slap at the 94th Academy Awards.

The choir accompanied him on a raised pedestal before gathering around him in the circle of fire. Gospel artist Kirk Franklin also rose from the audience to join Smith on stage.

“Nobody has it easy,” Smith said as the music died down. “We all have a cross to bear, but there is wisdom in that fire, and every moment of your life is a whole new opportunity. We are not punished, we are forged. Dance through your darkest moments.

Smith released the single from his upcoming fifth studio album on Friday. Dance in your darkest momentswhich comes almost 20 years after his last album LOST AND FOUND.

The actor’s latest performance comes after he surprised fans at Coachella during J. Balvin’s performance of “Men in Black,” wearing his black suit from the 1997 film.
