Most weeks, Bold and beautiful he treads on the spot for a bit until Friday, when something important finally happens. That certainly wasn’t the case this week, as three big stories fought for our attention…at least one of which gave us an early nominee for Dumbest Storyline of 2025! We have a lot to say, so let’s get to it!
We’ve talked in the past about how quickly and easily this series throws logic and even the most basic plot points out the window to get where it wants to go. This was certainly the case when it came to the Bill/Luna storyline. Luna was behind bars for months with no indication that the other inmates had a grudge against her. Yet after a beating and a few tears, Bill decided she was in so much danger that she should be returned to his custody rather than, say, transferred to a safer facility. Or, hell, couldn’t Bill have used some of his infinite resources to pay the guards to keep an eye on his ward?

But no, the show was in such a hurry to move on to the next beat of this story that in just one episode, Luna was returned to the care of her backlit Jesus-like savior. He brought her to the mansion and told her, “Hey, you can go out and live life, but no one can know you live here.” »
So now we’re counting down until someone finds out about Bill’s secret guest. This shouldn’t take long, considering no one on this show ever knocks. How long before Katie, who for a time had been making daily visits, stopped by? I suspect we’re in for a week or two of scenes where various people let themselves in and shout “Bill, are you home?” so Luna can rush behind the curtains.
Brooke finally found the time to do what she should have done a long time ago: talk to Ridge about the real reasons she took the CEO job. If Ridge were a normal human being, he would realize that Brooke put her love and devotion to him above everything else, including her relationship with her daughter Hope. Ridge, however, is too hurt, as my niece would say, to listen. (Let’s dedicate a song to Ridge, shall we? “You’re So Vain” by Carly Simon seems appropriate…)
Yes, Brooke should have told Ridge her plan before taking over as CEO or at least immediately afterward. We talked at length last week about how stupid it was that she (or Zende) didn’t tell Ridge. We also asked why Brooke Or Taylor would still pursue this guy, let alone both.

But here we are. And as next week’s teasers reveal, the idiot is about to turn all his (questionable) charms on Taylor, despite now knowing the truth about Brooke’s actions. Yeah, he’s a real keeper, isn’t he? And we already know how the story ends.
I’m a big fan of twists and turns that bring two seemingly disparate plots together in a gloriously messy collision. Although this series doesn’t do it often, I have a feeling they could implement something along those lines. If there’s one thing we know Bold and beautiful characters is that they love nothing more than to react impulsively in the most self-destructive way possible. Which means the moment Ridge and Taylor hook up, Brooke will have no choice but to get back in the saddle with her favorite stud, Bill.

Which, of course, could put her directly in the firing line when it comes to Luna. Because anyone who thinks her feelings for Bill, now a dad, are a thing of the past, hasn’t been paying attention to the staging of Thursday’s episode. I know I can’t be the only one who’s felt the “oh my god, they’re going to kiss” vibes radiating from them.
If Brooke bounces back into Bill’s arms, it’s not hard to imagine Luna’s jealousy spiraling out of control. Next thing you know, she’s shopping in the easy-to-build cage section of Ikea. (Or maybe she discovers that writers’ long-forgotten sex chamber that Bill built years ago and locks Brooke in there!)
The third story that caught our attention this week was the one in which Rémy chased Electra through the (abandoned) streets of Los Angeles. The most (unintentionally) hilarious moment was when a construction worker appeared in the background.
Why the hell did Electra run here and procrastinate instead of just going to the restaurant above Remy’s apartment? This is clearly a rhetorical question, as it was clearly asked for dramatic purposes. But this was yet another situation where absolutely no logic was involved in the storytelling process.
On any other soap opera, it would have seemed strange to suddenly see the characters wandering around the “real world.” But Bold and beautiful does such a good job establishing shots and occasional forays outside that it doesn’t seem jarring at all. The scenes were well-directed by supervising producer Casey Kasprzyk (whose name I still have to look up the spelling of every time, even all these years later), giving the sequence an excitement it wouldn’t have had on a soundstage.
Unfortunately, things came to a complete halt whenever the series saw Ivy and Katie having endless conversations about the dangers of artificial intelligence and deep fakes. The dialogue in these scenes was as unnatural as possible, and repeating it over and over again didn’t help matters.
• I love that last week Bridget was home for the holidays. In real life, people come for special occasions. But it might have been okay if she stuck around, given all the drama going on around her mother and aunts. And not for nothing, but she East the mother of a potential rival for Electra’s affections.
• Speaking of disappearing acts, I guess we’ll never mention RJ again and hope the audience won’t notice his absence? That certainly seems to be the case, given that he and portrayer Joshua Hoffman are no longer featured in the opening credits. (He’s not the only one.)
• I’m not sure what the point of the Will/Remy/Electra story was. Given that Remy escaped (so Will could make out with his girlfriend), I guess there may be more to come. Otherwise, what was the rush, especially since all three characters are new to the canvas and we weren’t terribly invested in them. Was that the goal? So that we invest more in Will and Electra? Maybe, although honestly, I like their portrayers and would just as soon watch them go out with them and get to know each other.
