Sam Hubbard hang up his helmet.
The long -standing defensive workforce of the Bengals of Cincinnati announced that it retired from the NFL after seven seasons at the age of 29.
“In my heart, I know that I gave this game, this team and this city everything I had,” Hubbard wrote in a press release on X (formerly Twitter) on March 5. “This is why today, with great pride, I announce that I go from my player career in the NFL and entering the next chapter of my life.”
The native of Ohio is thinking about what it meant for him to be able to play professionally for his home team.
“As a growing in the southwest of Ohio, Cincinnati has always been and will always be, which houses my family and me,” continued Hubbard. “I bled Orange and Black before putting a Bengal jersey. The trip that took me from a 71-North LycĂ©e’s butt player to become a defensive end to Ohio State University and return home as the Third Round of Bengals in 2018, it is something for which I am grateful for each day.”
