When Alex Ovechkin scored his record goal of the 895th in career, the players of Washington Capitals spilled the bench and assaulted the new goals of the NHL King as he flopped the belly on the ice of UBS Arena. Well, that is to say all except for Martin Fehervary.
In images of the goal, the 25 -year -old Slovak defender could be seen standing nonchalantly to take the door out of the bench with Trevor Van Riemsdyk before turning around, grab his helmet and slowly join the marsh of humanity in the neutral ice.
Other evidence comes from the ONH EDGE lens viewer showing no. 42, the man nicknamed Marty Party, the last to be in the party. So what gives?
“Well, I was bleeding, my nose was almost broken,” Fehervary Revealed on a video media video Capital. “So, I took care of my nose, but I was super excited.”
The problem of the nose paid attention to Fehevary while he was approaching the group to celebrate, but shortly after, he was one of the first to give Ovechkin a big hug individually.
According to Tom Gulitti from NHL.com, Fehervary’s nose was initially mutilated due to a success he pulled against Boston Bruins on April 1. He had started to bleed after being hit by an Icelanders in New York in the second period, before Ovechkin found the net for the record goal. The nose could not cure properly.
The nose is only the latest Fahervary’s face injury this season. The 25 -year -old Slovak defender sported cuts, bruises, a chipped tooth, a swollen nose and everything else after being struck high by opponents, taking high sticks by Inadvert and a deviated slap towards the head.
Despite all the trauma he suffered this year, Fehervary presented in the 77 games that the Capitals have played this season, which makes him one of the nine players on the team’s list that can claim this feat.
So, even if he could have been the last in the pile of pigs, he had very good reasons.
