Why Jurgen Klopp could miss his Anfield farewell as Liverpool boss could be denied an emotional final game on the touchline

Jurgen Klopp’s emotional farewell to Anfield may not go as planned as he risks being banned.

The Reds boss is set to leave the club this summer after almost nine years on Merseyside, with his final game coming this weekend against Wolves.

The German revealed earlier this year that he no longer has the energy to be Liverpool manager, but he will leave the club as a legend.

However, if he loses his cool in his final away game against Aston Villa, live on talkSPORT, he won’t be on the touchline for his final game.

Why Klopp could miss his last match at Liverpool?

As it stands, the German has been booked twice in the Premier League this season.

But three yellow cards would result in a one-match touchline suspension.

Of course, if that were to happen he would still be allowed at Anfield to watch the game from the stands, but he wouldn’t be on the sidelines.

Liverpool fans no doubt have something special planned for the manager who won them their first Premier League title, as well as a Champions League and various other trophies.

If he wasn’t on the touchline it would no doubt spoil the mood during the match, although he would still be able to receive the adulation of the Anfield crowd after full-time.

But to avoid all that, it’s probably wise for Klopp to stay on Simon Hooper’s good side at Villa Park.

To be fair to Klopp, he has avoided a touchline ban so far this year, but he’s going to be on his best behavior anyway.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference before the match, he said: “I knew for a long time (he could be banned). You could reverse the trend and say that I only had two yellow cards all season. Some of my colleagues have been suspended, haven’t they?

“I’ve become calmer over the years, obviously. I don’t need to be (on the sideline for the last day), but that would be cool. I will do absolutely everything to not get involved in “discussions” of any kind.
