The Mahayuti alliance led by the Bharatiya Janata party obtained a mandate in the Maharashtra, leading in 230 of the 288 seats of the Assembly. The Safran party itself has crossed the bar of the century, improving its performance since the polls of the 2019 Assembly.
While the BJP marks a reversal in the Maharashtra after the disappointing performance in the polls of Lok Sabha earlier this year, will become Fadnavis has become a man of the match. He is considered a favorite for the post of chief minister of Maharashtra, with several leaders of the Safran party supporting the first job.
Let’s take a closer look.
Born on July 22, 1970 in Nagpur, Fadnavis is from a politically active Brahmin family. At the age of only 22 years, he became corporateur in the civic body of Nagpur.
In 1997, when he was 27 years old, Fadnavis created history as a younger mayor of Nagpur.
He is involved in politics from student life. Fadnavis joined the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the student wing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), in 1989.
His father, the late Gangadhar Fadnavis, was a Jan Sangh and later the head of the BJP.
Fadnavis won his first election of the Assembly in 1999. There was no look back for him after that. He successfully challenged the surveys of the Assembly four times more since then – once Nagpur West and three times from Nagpur South West.
He also bagged the siege of Nagpur South West this time, winning a margin of more than 39,000 votes.

A lively speaker, Fadnavis played a big role in the formation of the current political landscape in the Maharashtra. “Devendra is Nagpur’s gift in the country,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said one day during an electoral rally.
Fadnavis Served as Chief Minister of Maharashtra from 2014 to 2014. The BJP Leader Again Took Oath AS The Maharashtra CM in November 2019, But his government, Propped up by the support of Ajit Pawar, LASSED ONLY THREE DAYS WIT (NCP) leader returning to his uncle Sharad Pawar.
In view of the 2019 assembly elections, Fadnavis said: “Me Punha Yein (I will come back) “.
And he returned, but two and a half years later and as deputy minister in chief.
After Uddhav Thackeray came to power in the Maharashtra in an alliance with the Congress, then an individual NCP, Fadnavis, according to Indian Expresshad said during a private BJP function: “CHOT DIL Mein LAGI HAI (It was my heart that was struck). It is not so much a question of losing the CM post, but the way in which the Sena betrayed us which left us injured. I do not know if it can be forgiven so easily ”.
The SHIV Sena, then individual of Thackeray, had fought the elections of the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly in an alliance with the BJP. However, the two parties have developed differences from the post CM, Thackeray claiming an understanding of the BJP on the chief ministry of the rotation. This was refused by the Saffron Party.
Thackeray then formed the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government. However, his government fell after two and a half years while Eknath Shinde rebelled and divided the Shiv Sena.
He and 41 of the 56 Sena deputies joined the BJP, forming the government in the State in June 2022.
Fadnavis was considered the architect behind the Sena rebellion. With that, his “revenge” was complete.
But Fadnavis has not yet done.
Last year, Ajit Pawar of NCP, who was sworn in as a assistant CM of Fadnavis in November 2019, divided the party of his uncle Sharad Pawar to join the government led by Shinde.
Fadnavis, who appreciates cordial relations with Ajit, was considered at the origin of the rebellion of the chief of the NCP.
When the BJP chose Shinde as CM from Maharashtra in June 2022, Fadnavis wanted to sit out of government. However, the best brass of his party would have convinced him to play the role of deputy for Shinde.
Under the direction of Fadnavis, the BJP challenged Lok Sabha’s polls in the Maharashtra. However, the lamentable performance of the Mahayuti Alliance was a major setback, with the leaders of the BJP and Shiv Sena of Shinde raising questions about the inclusion of Ajit Pawar in the Alliance.
The Safran party won only nine of the 48 seats of Lok Sabha in the Maharashtra, while its Allies Shiv Sena and NCP were victorious in seven and a seats, respectively.
Fadnavis proposed to resign as a CM deputy to focus on the party, but his request was refused.
In a few months, he turned the trend in favor of the BJP. Now, several leaders of the BJP, including the Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Kalash Vijayvargiya, have argued the name of Fadnavis for the Maharashtra CM Post.
With the BJP Stellar show in the polls of the Assembly, Fadnavis has a strong pretension to the first job.
Addressing journalists after Mahayuti’s victory, he said, “I said earlier, I am a modern Abhimanyu. I know how to break the Chakravyuh. We broke the Chakravyuh. I have a very small contribution to this victory. Our team won this.
Fadnavis also said that there was no dispute among the Mahayuti allies on the CM Post and a decision will be made by the three parties.
While time will say who will be the next chief minister, because nothing is certain in the politics of the Maharashtra. But “Me Punha Yein“Seems closer to getting up after five years.
