Why Brazil have five stars on their shirt as the Selecao enter the Qatar World Cup as one of the favorites

Brazil is one of the most iconic international football teams in the world, if not one of the most iconic.
The South American side have produced some of the best footballers in the world, and they are in Qatar as one of the favorites to lift the World Cup again.
Brazil displays five stars above its badge
Tite’s team is in sublime form and has a squad full of talent.
And when they play, you’ll notice they have five stars above their badge, but why?
Why do Brazil have five stars on their shirts?
Each star on a national team’s kit represents a World Cup victory.
Therefore, Brazil gets five because they have won football’s most prestigious award five times.
No other country has won the competition so much, and Brazil proudly display their five stars on their kit.

If Brazil do not win, they will remain the nation with the most World Cup titles until Germany are champions.
They are the only nation in the tournament to be able to match Brazil this time around, which shows how impressive their achievements have been.
Italy have also won the World Cup four times but will not take part in the tournament this winter.
World Cup winners
Brazil 5 (1958, 1962, 1970, 1994, 2002)
Germany 4 (1954, 1974, 1990, 2014)
Italy 4 (1934, 1938, 1982, 2006)
Argentina 2 (1978, 1986)
France 2 (1998, 2018)
Uruguay 2 (1930, 1950)
England 1 (1966)
Spain 1 (2010)
But despite past successes, it has now been 20 long years without a World Cup victory, and the Selecao even ruined a home tournament.
So the pressure is on for the top performing nation to add a sixth star.
It remains to be seen if they can, but they are a very strong team and will once again be supported by the whole nation.
