Lauren Sanchez is treating Donald Trump’s inauguration weekend like a fashion show. On Sunday evening, she wore a sparkling black Dolce & Gabbana dress while out with Elon Musk and Ivanka Trump at a dinner at the National Building Museum. On Monday, Sanchez and her future husband Jeff Bezos secured a coveted spot inside the Capitol rotunda before the swearing-in. Sanchez took advantage of the temperature-controlled environment to wear a bare-bones look — as is her wont, whether at a state dinner or relaxing on a yacht off the coast of St. Barthélemy. This time, she chose a white suffragette-style suit and wore it over a lace bustier that was barely visible under the plunging neckline of the suit jacket.

As you can imagine, social media wasn’t happy — not even Trump fans who are excited to see Bezos going out of his way to support the new president. The kinder comments said she had dressed inappropriately for the occasion, while others wished she had “put those things away.” There’s nothing like women’s breasts to rile people up — and distract them from the more troubling implications of seeing the richest people in the country all showing up to curry favor with Trump.

Although Sanchez’s neckline was unusual, she wasn’t the only woman to wear white on Monday. Influential Trump donor Miriam Adelson and new White House chief of staff Susie Wiles opted for winter whites, perhaps in an effort to take back the uniform from Democrats. Hillary Clinton and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have worn white suits to honor suffragettes in recent years.
