Shiv Sena, Eknath Shinde, resigned from his post as chief minister of Maharashtra, paving the way to the formation of the government of New Mahayuti. The alliance led by the Bharatiya Janata (BJP) party scripted a landslide victory during the recently concluded elections of the Maharashtra Assembly.
It’s been three days since the results, but the Mahayuti has not yet declared its chief minister. While the BJP framework is rooted for becoming Fadnavis, the leaders of Shiv Sena are pressure for the continuation of Shinde in the highest position.
The Ajit Pawar Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) would have supported Fadnavis’s return as Maharashtra CM. Here is why the deputy of Baramati will prefer the leader of the BJP for the post.
The ‘Treated’ links with Eknath Shinde
The tensions between Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde date back to the mandate of the Mahadi Aghadi Government (MVA) led by Uddhav Thackeray, according to reports.
According to India todayShinde was not satisfied with Thackeray for letting Pawar exercise important authority in state administration. Finally, Shinde rebelled and divided the Shiv Sena then a little, leading to the collapse of the MVA government in June 2022.
Shinde then came to power with the help of the BJP, which would be the cause of the revolt in the SHIV SENA. Fadnavis had to settle for the assistant CM position.
When Junior Pawar got up against his uncle, Sharad Pawar, and separated from the NCP to join the government of Shinde-Fadnavis last July, Shinde was not satisfied, according to the report.
Why Ajit Pawar will support Fadnavis
The NCP pawar has cordial links with Fadnavis and is satisfied with the selection of the bJp chief for the first position. Ajit Pawar had taken an oath as a deputy for Fadnavis in 2019, but the government only lasted 80 hours, while the PCN chief withdrew and returned to his uncle.

The newspaper said citing sources that Pawar is “more comfortable” with Fadnavis as CM.
Pawar summoned a meeting of the deputies of the newly elected PCN during its recently official bungalow. During the group, the election results were discussed, in which the BJP became the largest party with 132 seats. Shiv Sena de Shinde obtained 57 seats and the NCP 41.
“During the meeting, it was also discussed that if necessary, they would adopt a resolution and extend their support for Fadnavis as a CM. We are waiting for the main management of the BJP to make a decision concerning the post of chief minister. After that, a decision will be made in our party, “said a senior NCP official Tnie under cover of anonymity.
There was a consensus on the support of Fadnavis for the CM Post during the internal meetings, said the leaders of the PCN Indian Express. An NCP spokesperson said that the party led by Ajit Pawar had clearly told the BJP leaders that Fadnavis should be “the first preference” as CM.
While the three parties insisted that Mahayuti leaders will pick up the CM together, the final decision lies in the top brass of the BJP.
If Shinde becomes the CM, the SHIV Sena would have an advantage over the NCP in the Mahayuti government. As Indian Express Noted, the Pawar party is unable to demand the same stature within the government as the BJP given the enormous difference in their seats.
The reports indicate that the most likely scenario is that Fadnavis would be CM, with Shinde and Pawar which should be his deputies. According to a Times of India (you) Report, the BJP sent the decision to move forward with the name of Fadnavis for the first job at the NCP, which is on board.

What does Shiv Sena say?
Until now, the SHIV SENA has not moved to its request to keep Shinde as a chief minister of Maharashtra.

However, the MLC BJP, Pravin Darekar, helped Fadnavis to lead the new government, rejecting Mhaske’s comments as his “personal” opinion and not the position of the party.

Due to its massive mandate, the BJP does not depend strongly on its allies to reach the majority brand of 145 in the assembly of the Maharashtra. With the NCP on its side, the Safran party can comfortably face the claim to form the government. The SHIV SENA and the NCP will however try to obtain as many ministerial posts for their parties as they can.

While the suspense continues, Shinde, who submitted his resignation to Governor CP Radhakrishnan to Raj Bhawan today (November 26), urged his supporters not to come together in front of his official ‘Varsha’ in South Mumbai to do Pressure for its continuation as cm.
Shinde will serve as a CM goalkeeper until the new government is formed.
