HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Marshall Health Network confirms cases of pertussis, also known as whooping cough, in West Virginia.
Four cases were reported at Hurricane High School in Putnam County from an internal memo, as well as in areas of Cabell and Lawrence counties, Ohio.

Marshall Health also says two or more cases of whooping cough are considered an outbreak.
Whooping cough is a contagious respiratory disease that is spread primarily through respiratory droplets. This mainly affects those who are not vaccinated.
