Who is the closest to Trump? A visual guide to the proximity of power to the White House

Cnn

The offices of the West wing have always been real estate for the most influential people in the White House. This proximity to power is perhaps even more important in the second term of President Donald Trump, as a chief of staff Susie Wiles is committed to directing the White House – and to limit who has direct access to Trump – in a much more disciplined manner than this was the case during his first mandate.

This is also why those who have what the managers of the White House call “without appointment” privileges – which means that they can enter the oval office to see the president without nomination – are an even rarer commodity in the second administration of Trump.

However, almost all civil servants with offices on the first floor of the White House, and many on the second floor, have this popular access, several officials from the Trump administration and people close to the President told CNN, although most of them are still making an appointment before entering the oval. Certain aids in the office of the building of the executive office of Eisenhower, notably Elon Musk and the director of the office of the presidential staff of Trump, Sergio Gor, also have this privilege.

Unlike his first mandate, Trump surrounded himself with his closest and most faithful advisers. The majority of people who work in the west wing have already worked for him, whether in his campaign in 2024, during his first administration or both. And unlike 2017, when Trump hired the best more traditional GOP circles collaborators, his team is now largely aligned ideologically with the president and much less likely to repel his key political decisions.

Dan Scavino, deputy chief of staff and one of Trump’s longest advisers, has the office closest to the oval, right next to the president’s private dining room. Besides him is James Blair, the deputy chief of staff of Trump for the legislative affairs who was political director of the president in 2024. Blair now occupied the previous office in 2017 by Steve Bannon, who was chief of Trump after his first electoral victory.

Wiles, which Trump recently called “the most powerful woman in the world”, took the office generally used by the chiefs of staff who preceded him, who were all men.

Down the Wiles Hall is the office of vice-president JD Vance, where his chief of staff is also located, Jacob Reses. And next to him is the office of national security advisor Mike Waltz, the third largest after Wiles and Vance. Waltz’s deputy chief of staff, Alex Wong, and the main advisor Micah Ketchel seated in his suite, while his chief of staff, Brian McCormack, and the communications director Brian Hughes have their own windowless offices on the floor under Waltz, near the situation room.

The deputy chief of staff for the handsome Harrison operations and the assistant of President Robert Gabriel have privileged seats in the heart of the west wing, nestled next to the Roosevelt room and the hall. However, neither Gabriel nor Harrison have privileges without an appointment for the Oval Office, a senior White House official told CNN. Hughes, Ketchel or Wong either, said the advisor.

The president’s communication team. The Deputy Chief of the White House for communications and the firm’s business, Taylor Budowich, claimed the largest office, generally reserved for the White House press secretary. (Trump’s first press secretary, Sean Spicer, and those who followed it, all used this office.) Next to Budowich are the offices of communications director Steven Cheung and press secretary Karoline Leavitt.

Four of the president’s aid and the people who most often travel with him – now and in the years between his administrations – resident in the space directly off the oval office, known internally under the name of the outside oval. This includes the special assistant of President Margo Martin, who frequently documents Trump’s events and meetings on social networks; Natalie Harp, an old anchor One America News Network which often hits the social publications of Trump’s truth while he dictates them; Walt Nauta, the presidential valet and the military aid which was charged in the case involving the processing by Trump of classified documents before his abandonment; And Chamberlain Harris, Trump receptionist.

Trump will often look at the 150 -year -old resolved office to shout at the four aids, similar to his interactions with his former personal assistant Madeleine Westerhout during his first mandate.

Some of the president’s most influential advisers are also seated on the second floor, including the assistant chief of staff Stephen Miller, whose title by far underscores the power he holds in the White House. Miller chose to keep the office he used during the first administration, people have been familiar with the decision at CNN.

David Warrington, who uses the office, who uses the office, which uses the office of the president of the White House, uses the office, which was traditionally held by the president’s lawyer, the chief of staff for strategic implementation, Nick Luna, one of Trump’s “men”, and Kevin Hassett, director of the national economic council.

Two of Trump’s best collaborators in his campaign in 2024, Vincent Haley and Ross Worthington, are also sitting on the second floor. Haley is Trump leader of the internal policy lawyer while Worthington assumed the role of editor -in -chief – a position previously occupied by Miller.

However, many offices on the second floor remain empty as the president approaches his 100 days in power.

One of the most important officials in the new administration, Steve Witkoff’s special envoy – who was a key player in negotiations to end the wars between Israel and Hamas as well as between Russia and Ukraine – has an office in the basement, although he frequently meets Trump in the Oval office. At the lower level, Trump’s border tsar, Tom Homan and the staff secretary Will Scharf, who obtained a visible role presenting to the President the executive actions he signed before the press. In an unusual decision, Paula White-Cain, principal adviser of the White House faith and Trump’s long-term spiritual advisor, also has her own office in the basement.
