Who is Priti Kinnar, the transgender candidate on the first list of Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj party?

Political strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor has fielded Priti Kinnar, a transgender candidate from his Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) on the first list for the 2025 Bihar assembly elections.

The JSP announced its first list comprising 51 candidates.

Priti Kinnar will contest from Bhorey constituency in Gopalganj district, a seat reserved for the Scheduled Caste (SC) community.

She is said to have been involved in extensive outreach at the grassroots level, meeting people across the state to understand the issues they face.

The Bhorey seat is currently held by Janata Dal (United) leader Sunil Kumar, who is also the Bihar Education Minister in the Nitish Kumar government.

High Reach Social Worker

A resident of Kalyanpur village, Priti is a social worker who actively engages with people on the ground.

According to Amar Ujala, she is often seen helping the poor and participating in cultural programs such as Durga Puja and Chhath Puja, as well as sporting events and competitions, including cricket and football.

Acknowledging her strong grassroots ties in Bihar, JSP chief Prashant Kishor trusted Priti to provide a tough competition to her opponents.

According to News18 Hindi, Priti helped around 27 underprivileged girls get married and studied till class 8th. Its main sources of income are said to be livestock breeding and Badhai gana (traditional singing).

Bihar Elections 2025

Elections in Bihar will be held in two phases, with voting scheduled for November 6 and 11. The counting of votes will take place on November 14 and the results will be announced later.
