Who is Mohammad Mokhber, interim Iranian president after the death of Raisi?

Mohammad Mokhber, Iran’s first vice president, was named interim president on Monday following the death of Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash.

Iran’s constitution specifies that – if approved by the supreme leader – the first vice president will assume interim presidential duties in the event of the president’s death. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei asked Mokhber on Monday to ensure the election of a new president within 50 days, state media reported.
