“The Golden Bachelor” has found his next man in the lead.
Tuesday, the former NFL star, Mel Owens, 66, was announced as the star of season two of the reality show ABC centered on people who found love in their gold years.
“As a golden single, he is impatient to meet someone who shares this vision and finally find the perfect teammate he has been waiting for since his golden years,” said the press release.
The details concerning Mel’s season are rare, but here is everything we know so far in season two of “The Golden Bachelor”.
Mel was secondary for Los Angeles Rams for 9 seasons

Mel is Detroit and frequented the University of Michigan. After graduating, he was chosen as the ninth overall choice of the NFL of the Rams in 1981. He was second for the team for nine seasons.
After retiring from football, he became a lawyer
According to his LinkedIn profile, Mel is a partner of LBO Law, a company based in Newport Beach, California, since April 2006. However, he has not completely left the world of sport when he pivoted a career as a lawyer.
Mel represents athletes, in particular concerning injuries, disability benefits and workers’ compensation.

We do not know with whom Owens was previously married, but the press release indicates that he met his “first love” when he moved to Orange County, California, to continue his career in law.
They had two sons together and divorced later.
“While life has taken an unexpected turn with the death of his father and the end of his marriage, Owens channeled his energy to be the best possible father, focusing on the breeding of his sons and training their parascular sports teams,” said the press release.
There is not yet a release date for season 2 of “The Golden Bachelor”
Host Jesse Palmer announced that season two was in preparation during the Hulu Get Real House event in Los Angeles in April. The first date of the season has not yet been revealed, but the show will probably return in the fall, with a timing similar to its inaugural season with Gerry Turner.
