The creator of “The White Lotus”, Mike White, applauds – and does not hold back – to the composer winner of a Hit of HBO, Cristóbal Tapia de Veer, who announced that he was leaving the series last week.
In an interview Candide Siriusxm with Howard Stern on Tuesday, two days after the final of season 3 of “The White Lotus” of April 6, White expressed his confusion and injured on the comments of Tapia de Veer at the New York Times, detailing what he called creative clashes with White and announcing that he had left the series.
“Honestly, I don’t know what happened,” White told Stern, calling the only interview with Tapia Da Veer, on April 2, a “public relations campaign” that landed “three days before the final. It was sort of a slut movement”.
“I do not think he respected me. He essentially wants people to know that he is daring and dark and I do not know, as I watch reality TV,” said White, a former candidate “surviving” and “incredible race”. “We have never really fought. He says we led.
White said the process worked well with Tapia de Veer for the first two seasons “White Lotus”. “But during the third season, he had won Emmy and his song had become viral. He just wanted to go through the process,” said White. “He would have a contemptuous smile on his face when he takes care of me. As if I was just a chimpanzee or something.”
Tapia de Veer, who won three Emmys for the show’s ear theme of the show, told Times that he had to “force” his music to “The White Lotus”, saying that he had few allies on production and labeling the process “a good struggle”.
“I have the impression that it was, you know, a rock story of rock ‘n’ roll,” said Tapia de Veer. “I was like, ok, it’s like a rock group in which I went before where the guitarist does not understand the singer at all.”
Kim Neundorf, a representative of Tapia de Veer, refused to comment on USA Today on White’s interview.
White said he had not chosen a new location for season 4 (but he went to Colombia to get out of Los Angeles). He told Stern that after having broken the records of viewers in season 3, he renegotiated his HBO contract for season 4.
When Stern pressed details for the agreement, White responded in a way that reflected the main theme of “The White Lotus”. “At a certain point with money, (we wonder) will it worsen me?” said white. “Having more money will make me more dysfunctional?”
