Norway, Spain and Ireland announced on Wednesday that they were preparing to recognize a Palestinian state, joining 140 countries that have already done so.
The decision of the three European countries infuriated Israel, which recalled its ambassadors from these countries.
Although the move was symbolic, the countries said they hoped the recognition would contribute to a two-state solution.
