What time is the inauguration and where does it take place?

Mr. Trump’s inauguration ceremony will begin at noon Eastern time, but the action will begin earlier, as the Trumps arrive for morning services at St. John’s Church in Washington.

The swearing-in will now take place inside the Capitol rotunda. This will be the first time the ceremony has been held indoors since 1985, when Ronald Reagan was inaugurated for his second term. The bitter cold also motivated this decision.

Mr. Trump, in announcing the change of plans Friday, also canceled the traditional parade, noting that guests would be invited to attend the inaugural debates at the nearby Capital One Arena. He said he would join them after the ceremony.
