Loughlin and Giannulli separated after 28 years of marriage in early October
John Stamos will be there for Lori Loughlin through thick and thin.
The actor, 62, didn’t hold back when discussing his former co-star’s soon-to-be ex-husband, Mossimo Giannulli, during an appearance on the show The good guys podcast from Monday October 20. Reflecting on her longtime friendship with Loughlin, 61 – who played Aunt Becky, her Uncle Jesse’s lover, on Full house in the ’80s and ’90s, Stamos praised her for being “a saint.”
“I’m heartbroken for her right now,” he admitted of his recent split from the clothing designer after 28 years of marriage. “She’s just devastated. For a girl who has lived her life very well, a good person, a good mother, a good wife – I know all of that for sure – to be thrown now into this separation and, you know, blow up, blow up her family like this,” Stamos said. “I just hate seeing her go through this. I really do.”

Stamos noted that he “really tried to be there for her during this time, and also with the college scandal,” referring to Loughlin and Giannulli pleading guilty in 2020 after paying $500,000 to get their two daughters, Olivia Jade, 26, and Isabella, 27, into the University of Southern California as fake crew recruits.
Shortly after a news conference on the federal investigation was released, Stamos said he sent a text message to the When hope calls the actress, who did not know that it was broadcast on “all the channels”. That was the last time he “heard from her for a while.”
In May 2020, Loughlin and Giannulli pleaded guilty to wire and mail fraud. Loughlin was ultimately sentenced to two months in federal prison, which she served in December 2020, and Giannulli received a five-month sentence.
Stamos explained that he was there to support his longtime friend through it all, and he didn’t hold back his opinion on the role Giannulli played in the challenges Loughlin faced.

“I said, ‘Look, all the negativity or struggles you’ve been through in your life is tied to this guy,'” Stamos admitted of Giannulli to Loughlin. “Whatever he did to her, it broke her to the core. She’s been through a lot over the years with this guy. And again, I’m not going to get into that relationship. It’s none of my business. I mean, I know a lot, and I’ve been by her side through a lot of things. She’s an angel, and she’s always made things better. She’s cleaned things up. He’s a very successful guy.”

As for his own relationship with Giannulli, Stamos said, “I’ll never speak to him again.”
“He’s a terrible narcissist, and I don’t think you can get away with it unless you’re able to,” he continued, adding that even though he knows a little more about Giannulli, he still asks himself, “How do I break this?”
“I pray for this guy,” Stamos concluded. “I pray that he takes hold of the hole that he’s trying to fill, however he tries to fill it. I pray that he realizes that what he had was all anyone could hope for and that he gets help. I think this guy needs help.”
