So was it a Hitler’s salvation or not?

Speaking during the inauguration of President Trump this week, Elon Musk hit his right hand on the chest before shooting his arm diagonally up, palm down. He did it twice.

It looked a lot like salvation used in Nazi Germany and fascist Italy. But almost immediately, an impressive number of different interpretations began to circulate.

Some commentators described it as “Roman salvation”. Others have described it as a “sincere” expression of joy, or have described it as simply clumsy.

The website of the Anti-Diffamation League, which campaigns against anti-Semitism, defines Nazi salvation as “lifting the right arm stretched, palm down”, and classifies it as “the sign of the most white supremacist hand current in the world ”.

But after the hard salvation of Mr. Musk, the Anti-Diffimation League described it as “clumsy gesture in a moment of enthusiasm, no Nazi salvation”.

Andrea Stroppa, known as the emissary of M. Musk in Italy, published on the social network X: “The Roman Empire is back, starting with Roman salvation. He then deleted the message, saying that people interpreted “all of this as a reference to Nazi fascism”.
