San Diego County Air Pollution Control District staff have conducted several investigations after complaints of “strong odors” along the Carlsbad and Oceanside coasts.
Locating the source of the odor was a challenge for investigators because of its fleeting nature, but they confirmed it was not linked to a fire in Escondido at the SDG&E battery plant.
“Our field inspectors are on site and have documented odors resembling a mixture of plastic and asphalt/oil in some areas, but the odors are dissipating quickly,” the San Diego County Air Pollution Control District said in a statement Friday.
