Columbus, Ohio – The news from Chip Kelly on Sunday leave Ohio State Football to serve as the next offensive coordinator for Las Vegas raiders may have surprised them.
But for the coach of Kelly and Osu Ryan Day, it was a realistic decision in a one -year plan.
“We talked about it, the fact that we had a very good group here,” said Day on Sunday on the program Joel Klatt. “The dream would be to win a national championship, then he decides if he wants to stay or have the opportunity to go to the NFL.”
The first goal was achieved on January 20 when the Ohio State beat Notre Dame in the National University Football Championship, winning the ninth title in the history of the program and the first of the six -year day.
Although it took Kelly and one day a season together to raise a trophy, it was a moment in preparation.
Although Kelly is 16 years old, they had a link that dates back to their hometown of Manchester, New Hampshire.
Their obligation increased when the day was a quarter of Kelly at the University of New Hampshire (1998-2001).
They have trained together in the past with a day of work under Kelly with Les Eagles (2015) and 49ers (2016). However, the 2024 season allowed Kelly to work under the day.
The trip took place as they hoped, with the day reaching the summit and Kelly becoming the best paid coordinator of the NFL.
“Being able to have a beer in a few years and talking about the year we had together will be special,” said Day. “… we went and did that. What a beautiful story.
