Hours before President Joe Biden’s 2021 inauguration, Trump and his family flew to Florida, where he currently resides at Mar-a-Lago, his private club in Palm Beach.

Trump announced his 2024 presidential campaign on November 15, 2022. He continues to hold rallies and question the 2020 election amid several ongoing investigations.

New York’s attorney general is investigating the Trump Organization’s financial dealings, and court documents detail the AG’s office’s accusations against the company, including improperly inflated property values. In March 2023, he was indicted on 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree. Trump has denied any wrongdoing, pleading not guilty and accusing the investigations of being politically motivated. The trial took place in April, and on Thursday, Trump was found guilty on all counts in the first-ever criminal trial of a former US president. Trump said he was a “very innocent man.”

In August 2022, FBI agents executed a search warrant at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, provoking a furious response from Trump and his allies. The search appeared to focus on documents Trump brought back to Florida after leaving the White House, triggering a federal investigation related to the Presidential Records Act. In June 2023, Justice Department prosecutors indicted Trump on 37 counts, alleging that he withheld classified documents from the government after leaving office and attempted to prevent their return. Trump then pleaded not guilty.

Another ongoing investigation by the Jan. 6 House Select Committee includes subpoenas to Trump allies and administration officials who communicated with the president in the days and months before the attack on Capitol in 2021. In August 2023, Trump was indicted for a third time and charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction, and conspiracy against the right to vote and have his vote counted as part of the Justice Department’s investigation into events leading up to the January 6 election.
