On how Katie Thurston learned her diagnosis of breast cancer
First, Katie’s doctor referred it to a specialist to obtain a breast ultrasound. Then she had a mammography.
“After then obtaining mammography, they wanted me to do a biopsy,” said Katie in an Instagram video of March 18, 2025. “It is only then that they can confirm if it is breast cancer. I think my appointment was on February 5. And then by February 13, I received the official call that it was indeed a breast cancer.”
And she will never forget the moment when she got the news for the first time.
It was “the worst feeling that I never felt”, the reality star, who noted that his family has no history of breast cancer, shared on Hello America March 19, 2025. “You are just devastated. You are so devastated. She is so shocking. As a 34 -year -old woman, you are not prepared.”
Katie informed her fans of her stadium 3 diagnosis on February 15, 2025.
“I have experienced a range of emotions in the past two weeks,” she wrote on Instagram. “Bange. Anger. Sadness. Denial. And then strength. Ready. I cried a lot.”
And she expressed her intention to document her trip in the hope of helping others.
“One thing I did very early was to look for other stories like mine,” she continued. “Other young women with breast cancer. Invasive canal carcinoma. Mastectomy. Pregnancy after breast cancer. All their stories have helped. So I intend to be the same for others. It is the most sharing day and I will be long. This first stage of acceptance of my reality was the most difficult. But I am ready to fight.”
