What is Samsung’s “$1,500 savings” on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6?

Samsung opened reservations for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 last week and hinted that interested buyers could save up to $1,500. But surely that sounds too good to be true, right? Well, now we have a better idea of what that looks like.

If you head over to Samsung’s website right now, you can make a free reservation for one of Samsung’s new devices, whether it’s the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Flip 6, or even something else like the Watch 7 or Watch Ultra. This reservation automatically gets you a $50 credit with your pre-order, but you can also get other additional savings.

Samsung has announced that pre-orders of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 will be eligible for savings of up to $1,500, a bold claim to say the least.

In an email sent to some customers, Samsung provides some clarification on how this works.

It starts with the aforementioned $50 Reserve Credit, which is available exclusively through July 10. There’s no obligation if you make a reservation and don’t pre-order a device later, and you’re entered into a $5,000 drawing either way.

Samsung is apparently going to relaunch its double storage offer. This means you’ll get twice the storage no matter which model you buy. Samsung says this represents a savings of up to $240. Another relaunched offer is a free year of Samsung Care+, worth up to $156 (following its recent price increase).

So far, that’s a total of $446.

The rest of the “up to $1,500 in savings” comes, of course, from trade-in offers.

Samsung says it will offer up to $1,200 in trade-in value (likely just for the Fold 6). This likely only applies to very recent versions like the Fold 5 and Galaxy S24 Ultra, but it’s the highest price we’ve seen since some Galaxy Z Fold 3 promotions in 2022.

The email reads in part:

Book now. Save later.

  • Reserve your $50 credit to use when you pre-order.
  • Then, save up to $1,200 with an eligible trade-in to use on your pre-order.
  • Get double the storage on us (up to $240 value).
  • Plus, get your first 12 months of Samsung Care+ free with select carriers (up to a $156 value).

In total, that might actually be more than $1,500 in savings, but in reality, the trade-in and reserve credit are the only real amounts you’ll see deducted from the foldable’s price. Everything else is more of a perk than an actual savings. Still, after a few years of average deals, this all seems pretty good.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 are expected to launch on July 10.
