The unofficial start of summer is here, which means that people will organize barbecues and swimming pools – and will finally finish the entirely white outfits.
But the Memorial Day, the federal holidays falling on the last Monday in May, honors members of the deceased American armed forces when they served their country. This year, the Memorial Day will take place on Monday May 26.
It also means that many schools, government facilities and companies will be closed.
Here is what will be open and closed the Memorial Day 2025.
It’s a holiday, so the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq will not be negotiated on Monday.
Banks in the Federal Reserve as well as most large banks will be closed. Online banking services and automatic distributors are still open, however.
Retail and grocery store
Most national retailers will be open on Monday. Walmart and Target will be open the Memorial Day.
All locations for Food Lion will be open during regular hours, as are most grocery stores under Kroger. Aldi stores operate at limited hours. Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s will also be open.
In particular, Costco warehouse stores will be closed on Monday. Make sure you check with local grocers and retailers on closings or modified hours.
USPS will not deliver mail on Monday. UPS locations will be closed except for the limited locations of stores, and its express critical service will be available.
Fedex will have only a personalized criticism available and Fedex Office will be open during modified hours.
