‘What is he doing?’ – John Fury hits out at Mike Tyson for ignoring call-out and accepting Jake Paul fight

John Fury is baffled by Mike Tyson’s decision to fight Jake Paul.

Heavyweight legend Tyson has made the surprise decision to announce he will face YouTube star Paul in a July 20 clash at the age of 58, in a fight which has drawn heavy criticism.

Infamous boxing dad Fury made repeated calls to Tyson in an attempt to lure the American into the ring, including in person when the two men met in Saudi Arabia at his own meet. son Tommy Fury with Paul last year.

Although no fight materialized, Fury is genuinely baffled by the decision.

He told Seconds Out: “I’m the same age as him. What’s wrong with him?

“Even His Excellency Turki said I’m shocked Tyson doesn’t want to fight you.”

“I’m shocked myself. But I tell you what, I must have a presence – the Gypsy King’s father.

“He fights a middleweight instead of me. But I’ll fight anyone, I don’t mind. Let’s make me pay – but pay me what I’m worth.

“You can get killed, right? But I’m willing to risk my life for the good fight.

“The good fight is him, Mike Tyson.”

“Iron” Mike refused to rule out an exhibition when the two met and even broke down in tears after learning the story of his namesake Tyson Fury.

It would certainly be much better with Fury Sr the same age as the heavyweight legend, who is far from his prime.

Mike Tyson claims he was ‘scared to death’ of boxing Jake Paul in bizarre pre-fight admission

Fury, 59, has a professional record of eight wins with four losses and one draw, with his last outing coming in a loss to Steve Garber in 1995.

Tyson himself already returned in an exhibition with Roy Jones Jr in November 2020 and is expected to face Paul in a similar format.

However, significant concerns have been raised about Tyson’s health, given his age.

There will be a 31-year age gap between the two men, but the former undisputed heavyweight champion is determined to take it seriously and is certainly training hard.

Critics of his fight have received a message of defiance from Tyson, who insists he is in excellent condition to compete again.

And it’s no wonder the fighter is looking to end his retirement, considering he’s reportedly set to pocket $20 million for one final night alone.
