Celtics
In the week leading up to the NBA Finals, there was a lot of talk about the fact that the game was between Grant Williams’ two former teams.
Williams played for the Celtics from 2019-2023 and for the Mavericks for most of this year. Now he’s a member of the Charlotte Hornets, and he gets to watch (or not watch) his two previous teams compete.
While the situation certainly puts Williams in an unfortunate situation, he doesn’t seem too torn — at least publicly.
Williams commented on an Instagram post, writing: “There are no two teams more deserving. Glad to have been apart of the two,” with a handshake emoji.
He then shared a video of himself dunking on a child during Junior NBA Indonesia Week and wrote: “Super Sad” with a halo and crying/laughing emojis.
Williams spends time in Indonesia working with young children through NBA Cares and sharing his love for the game.
In May, Williams predicted that if it was a Celtics-Nuggets, the Nuggets would win in six or seven. If it was a Celtics-Mavericks, the Celtics would win in six games.
