In the United States, twelve United States recognized Good Friday as a state festival: Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Texas and Tennessee. In these areas, state offices are closed in respect.

The Nasdaq Composite, a stock market index which includes all the shares listed on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, is closed while respecting Good Friday. The New York Stock Exchange is also closed on Good Friday.
Catholic and Christian schools will generally be closed while respecting the holidays. To make sure that your student’s campus is closed today, call the administrative office or consult your child’s academic calendar.
Some public schools, including the unified school district of Los Angeles, are already closed for spring holidays before Easter holidays.

Banks generally follow the holiday calendar of the federal reserve, ensuring that most banks are open on Friday. You must contact your favorite bank branch to make sure that its operating hours are not affected.

The majority of clothing retailers, shopping centers and grocery stores will remain open on Good Friday, but check the closings and store hours for Easter Sunday.
