The Premier League trophy could head north or south this weekend, with Arsenal still having a chance of winning the title.

Manchester City beat the Gunners’ north London rivals Tottenham in midweek to get their hands on the trophy, but the race remains open.

Cityzens’ 2-0 victory on Tuesday put the club two points clear in their bid to win an unprecedented fourth consecutive league title.

Arsenal will have to beat Everton in the final match, live on talkSPORT, and hope West Ham get a result against the champions.

The two matches take place at the same time with 198 miles difference between the Emirates and the Etihad.

So, if there are final day twists and turns, similar to City’s first Premier League triumph in 2012, what will happen to the trophy?

Sergio Aguero’s spectacular winner against QPR was one of nine occasions when the champions were decided on the final day.

But if Man City suffers the opposite fate with Arsenal, a Premier League trophy will not be transported by helicopter from one stadium to another.

Instead, there are actually two identical trophies – one held for the season by the current holders and the other reserved for the Premier League.

City – as reigning champions – will already have one of these trophies at the Etihad, with the other deployed at the Emirates.

Both stadiums will also have identical podiums and pyrotechnics in case a quick title-winning party needs to be organized.

Arsenal and Man City players won’t have to worry about waiting to receive their medals either.

A prize pack of 40 will be available at the Etihad Stadium and Emirates for the winners.

Any player who has made at least five appearances can receive one – the rest are distributed free at the club’s discretion.

The trophy will only be engraved after the champions have lifted it – with an expert engraver present at each pitch.
