What does this mean for SF Giant’s Barry obligations?

San Francisco – The major baseball league commissioner Rob Manfred announced on Tuesday that he had kidnapped Pete Rose, “Sholess” Joe Jackson and other players who died from the permanently ineligible list of the League.

The decision opens the way to Rose and Jackson – two of the greatest players in baseball whose inheritances were tainted by the game – to obtain admission to the temple of fame.

“Obviously, a person who is no longer with us cannot represent a threat to the integrity of the game,” wrote Manfred in a letter to the lawyer Jeffrey Mr. Lenkov, who asked for the withdrawal of the list permanently prohibited in January. “In addition, it is difficult to conceive a penalty that has more deterrent than the one that lasts a lifetime without suspended.

“Consequently, I concluded that permanent ineligibility ends with the passage of the disciplined individual, and Mr. Rose will be removed from the permanent ineligible list.”

The decision, which comes after the death of Rose in September 2024 in 83rd, would allow Rose, Jackson and others to be examined for the temple of fame by the historic committee of the overview.

Rose and Jackson would be part of the classic baseball era (before 1980), which means that the most tracks could be inducted is 2028. That said, there is no guarantee that one or the other will be elected.

Barry Bonds, for example, remains eligible for the renowned temple as part of the contemporary baseball era after failing to be elected by the BBWAA. In December 2022, the obligations received less than four votes from the “Veterans Committee” of 16 people – well unless the 12 votes were to be enthroned.

During his period of eligibility on the normal ballot, the voters refused to eliminate the obligations, the leader of all the MLB in the Home Runs. The obligations argued that he had never knowingly used steroids in his career, but admitted to having used substances provided by his coach, who turned out to be steroids. He was a major figure in the Balco survey, a business in the Bay region that provided steroids to the main leaguers.

Some figures from the local sports community have welcomed the decision and expressed the hope that the obligations could one day be inducted.

Bill Duby, who heads the Golden State Grind, an elite development program for young players in the County Costa County, said reintegration is too late.

“Although I am happy to see Pete Rose finally reinstated by Major League Baseball, it is deeply disappointing that this recognition only came after his death,” said Duby. “Unfortunately, knowing the history of MLB, one cannot help wondering if it was still part of the plan – to punish man, not just actions.”

Tony Dress, coach of Diablo Valley College, applauded the decision: “Awesome!”, He said in an email. “Open the door to the obligations to enter and should in my opinion!” The figures do not lie! I am not tall in the hall being the police of morality. ”

From 2025, candidates on the EA committees who do not receive at least five votes will not be eligible for the following ballot.

“I do not know why you are waiting so far, but I suppose that is what it is,” said the manager of the Giants, Bob Melvin. “The guy was a great player. I’m glad he was finally recognized in this light.”

Rose, leader of all MLB (4,256), voluntarily agreed with Commissioner A. Bartlett Giamatti to a permanent ban on August 23, 1989, following an investigation which concluded that Rose bet on the Reds as a player and manager. Manfred previously rejected the rose petition for reinstatement in 2015.

In addition to the game and a five -month sentence to a minimum security prison for the escape of federal income tax, Rose was accused of statutory rape in 2017. Questioned by a journalist in 2022, Rose replied: “It was 55 years ago, baby.”
