Boston Calling is back, but not everyone is thrilled about the 2025 lineup.
The three-day, multi stage, outdoor festival is arguably the biggest music event in Greater Boston. But after the lineup was announced on Monday, some do not have high hopes for this year’s festival.
Friday will be the day for country folks, with Luke Combs and Megan Maroney headlining. Saturday features a millennial alt-rock crew, with Fall Out Boy and Avril Lavigne as headliners, and supporting performances by Cage the Elephant and The Black Crowes. Sunday closes out the festival with Dave Matthews Band, Vampire Weekend, Remi Wolf, and Sublime.
Boston Calling 2025 lineup: Dave Matthews Band, Luke Combs, Fall Out Boy to headline
While some some are thrilled about the variety in genre, others are sharing that the lineup lacks personality and won’t hold up against previous years.
One commenter on social wrote, “Worst Boston Calling lineup of all time.” Another commented this year’s lineup “looks worse than the [Patriots] 👀.”
It might be difficult to follow last year’s roster, which featured artists for various age groups — Megan Thee Stallion, Leon Bridges, and Hozier stood out among younger crowds, while Tyler Childers and The Killers offered a variety in style and sound.
