West Ham vow to indefinitely ban fans who threw objects at Fiorentina star who bled from the head

West Ham have condemned the behavior of some of their supporters after Fiorentina captain Cristiano Biraghi bled from the head after being hit by an object.

The Europa Conference League final was scoreless when Biraghi went for a corner kick at the end of the Eden Arena in Prague where West Ham fans were seated.

West Ham have released a statement promising to take action against anyone found guilty of an offense and ban them from attending matches at the London Stadium.

A statement from the Premier League club read: “West Ham United unreservedly condemns the behavior of a small number of individuals who threw objects onto the pitch during tonight’s UEFA Europa Conference League final.

“These actions have no place in football and in no way represent the values ​​of our football club and the overwhelming majority of our supporters, who have behaved impeccably in Prague this week and throughout. of our last two seasons in European competition.

“We will work with the police and other stakeholders to review the incidents and take action against anyone found guilty of an offence.

“In line with our zero tolerance approach, anyone identified will have their details passed to the police and will be issued an indefinite ban and therefore will not be able to enter the London Stadium and travel with the club. There is no place for this kind of behavior at West Ham United.”

Speaking on talkSPORT, Sam Matterface condemned the action, saying live: “It’s absolutely insane. Paqueta, Coufal and Aguerd went to the West Ham fans and said ‘calm down’.

“Michail Antonio goes over there and says ‘don’t do it’. It’s causing serious problems, it’s now going to damage West Ham’s reputation in Europe.

“They’ve been brilliant over the week, the atmosphere has been jubilant – like a party – rather than aggressive.

“And then tonight we had a series of incidents where they threw plastic cups onto the pitch and one of them has now been thrown with such speed that it cut off the captain’s head. Fiorentina.”

Alongside him was ex-Hammers star Dean Ashton, who said: “It’s just disgusting to see. I don’t see why they’re doing it.

“It’s been a great week, so far it’s been a great game, really contested by both teams.

“Declan Rice went to try to console Biraghi and show that he supports him and does not condone these actions.”

It wasn’t the first time the Italian had had objects thrown at him from the crowd.
