A boat launch at Cherry Creek Reservoir will open before Memorial Day weekend, state officials announced Thursday.
The west boat ramp will be open before the weekend, Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials said in a Twitter post. The reservoir’s east boat ramp remains closed, officials said.
Opening the ramp required debris removal and cleanup that developed after the recent storm in early May.
The six inches of rain that fell on the park raised the level of the reservoir by 10 feet, causing the closure of the two boat ramps, the swimming beach and some other areas of the park, and washed away some park roads.
*sounds of horn*
The Cherry Creek West boat launch will be open in time for Memorial Day weekend. The East boat launch remains closed. Hats off to the park staff for working hard on debris removal and cleanup!
