Website offers free, practical advice to caregivers of dementia patients

Caring for older people with dementia is stressful, especially when they become physically or verbally aggressive, engage in other inappropriate or repetitive behaviors, or refuse help from caregivers.

More than 95 percent of patients experience these and other neuropsychiatric symptoms of dementia, which tend to fluctuate over time and vary in intensity. This is often the reason people with dementia end up in assisted living or nursing homes, according to the Alzheimer’s Association. At some point, families and friends who try to help at home just can’t do it.
