During an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “The Faulkner Focus” Monday, Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL) credited President-elect Donald Trump for the abrupt departure of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau earlier in the day.
According to the Republican lawmaker from Florida, Trudeau concluded that he was not “qualified” to take on the new US president.
“What South would say, Harris, is bless his heart,” she said. “He had a hard time…like you said, it’s not a surprise to see Prime Minister Trudeau’s resignation. It took time. He was Canada’s last on policy, and Canadians have had enough. You mention the border situation we have in Ottawa. We know that terrorist cells discovered in Ottawa pose a threat to American national security. We have trade disputes, whether it’s lumber or potatoes. We have a number of products that we have had difficulty working through to negotiate a favorable trade deal.
She added: “So I think we’re seeing a realignment in Canada, just as in other places around the world where people in this nation are fed up with tyrannical rule. Look no further than what happened to these truckers when they spoke out against Canadian policies and had their bank accounts seized. This is truly a global realignment to prioritize the sovereign nation. And I think we have President Donald Trump to thank for that, because as you mentioned and what Prime Minister Trudeau didn’t acknowledge was that he went to Mar-a-Lago. And I think he sat across from President-elect Donald Trump and said, “You know, I don’t think I’m qualified to handle this.” And I think that’s why we see him exit stage left.
