This is far from being the only case of geopolitically linked damage that we have seen in recent months. And it is time for European countries, as well as businesses, begin to keep a much closer eye on potential saboteurs among us.
In total, the authors of Germany have sabotaged 270 cars parked in the streets of the city, spraying insulation foam in the cars exhaust pipes, which makes them motionless. To finish their anti-car campaign, the authors stuck posters on the cars, with the command: “Be greener!” In parallel with the image of the Vice-Chancellor Robert Habeck.
This looked like the work of too zealous climate activists trying to support the support of Habeck’s Greens before the German national elections on February 23. But police alerted outside Berlin resolved the mysterious case when they spotted a group of men driving with suspect. And the men – a German, a Romanian, a Serbian and a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina – proved to be firearms for the rental. One of them even told the police that they had been contracted by a Russian who had paid them 100 € per sabotal car, plus an advance of several thousand euros.
Although German investigators have not been able to prove that sabotage has been encouraged by the Kremlin – and could never find such proof – it is important to remember that it would be in the interest of Russia to discredit the rigorous pro -Ukent Greens.
But the automotive campaign is far from the only case of geopolitical damage that we have seen recently: the incendiary packages intended for line planes appeared at the DHL logistics center in Leipzig. The unknown authors tried to separate from the water factories in Finland and Sweden. There have been suspect fires in shopping centers and warehouses in various European countries. Unidentified drones have monitored defense manufacturing factories. The underwater cables work poorly at the galloping rate in the Baltic Sea, Taiwanese waters and elsewhere. There was even a plot linked to Russia to murder Armin Papperger, the CEO of the German weapons manufacturer Rheinmetall.
The individuals who try to harm our countries in fact track our streets every day. They can hit anywhere, against any target, and they use tools of their choice. The potential Russian military intelligence assassins retired from Sergei Skripal used the NOVICHOK state controlled; The exhaust pipes in Germany used the insulation foam. You have the idea: everything can be a weapon, from sophisticated to rudimentary.
