“We do not want recessive measures”, insists the president of the LR group in the Senate after his consultation at the Ministry of the Economy

“No tax increase, it’s the ability to support the purchasing power of the French.” After the MoDem and the Socialists yesterday, then Edouard Philippe and executives from his Horizons party in the morning, it was Mathieu Darnaud, president of the Les Républicains group in the Senate, who was received in Bercy on Tuesday January 7 as part of the consultations for the 2025 budget.

The senator was received by the Minister of the Economy, Eric Lombard, and the Minister of Public Accounts, Amélie de Montchalin. Received in Bercy with executives from his Horizons party, Edouard Philippe declared his wish to“an intelligent budget that puts public finances in good order” but also “limit the tax burden” and of “reduce spending wherever possible”.

• Socialists “open to compromise”. This was assured Tuesday on France Inter by the first secretary of the PS, Olivier Faure, the day after his interview with the Minister of the Economy. “We will see if we can manage to converge on a certain number of points”he added. Before Monday’s meeting, Eric Lombard estimated on France Inter that “convergences (were) possible with the Socialist Partybut also with the Communist Party and with the Greens”.

• Other consultations on the Social Security budget. The different parliamentary groups must be received on Tuesday at the large Ministry of Labor, Health, Solidarity and Families, led by Catherine Vautrin, in the presence of Ministers Amélie de Montchalin (Public Accounts), Astrid Panosyan-Bouvet (Work and Employment), Yannick Neuder (Health and Access care) and Charlotte Parmentier-Lecocq (delegate for autonomy and disability), specifies the government in a press release. The first meeting will take place with the socialists at 4:30 p.m.

A savings plan estimated at “50 billion”. Guest of France Inter on Monday, Eric Lombard said he wanted to reach a non-censorship agreement so that France “have a budget” as soon as possible.
