Hamas members captured by Israel have admitted during interrogation that the bloodthirsty terrorist group ruthlessly uses hospitals and innocent civilians as human shields when it launches strikes against Israeli forces.
The Israeli military has released videos showing several of the Hamas terrorists captured by Israel revealing how the group hides weapons under mattresses and poses as doctors and nurses to evade capture.
A senior IDF official said on Telegram that the terrorists were interrogated in Israel after being captured during a ground operation on November 12.
One of the captives, who identified himself as Abdelrahaman Alaa Ibrahim Samur, told an interrogator off-camera that “about a hundred” Hamas members “took control” of Rantisi Hospital in Gaza for about five days to “(carry out) attacks”.
“They were organized, with several tents, each group of agents being alone (in groups of) 4 to 5 of them sitting together, all around the hospital,” the captured terrorist said.
He also admitted that the terrorists “operated from the hospital… because it was a safe place and no one could locate them.”
“No one would suspect them,” Samur added. “It was better than operating from home.”
They used the hospital “as a base of operations,” he explained, before launching missions outside.
Another captured Hamas fighter said he was inside al-Shifa hospital, Gaza’s largest hospital complex, where he said around 50,000 people were seeking shelter.
“The doctors were furious because members of Hamas and other terrorist organizations were inside the hospital,” he told the interrogator.
The anonymous Hamas fighter said there were about 100 terrorists at the hospital, including members of Islamic Jihad, Hamas’ second-largest militant group.
“They (Hamas members) were dressed as nurses, but they were neither nurses nor doctors,” he said. “Members of Hamas dressed as medical personnel to blend into hospital wards, even intensive care units! »
A third man, who said his name was Hamuda Riad Asad Shamalah, told the interviewer that he had been holed up in the Red Crescent building in Gaza with his family for “about three weeks.”
He estimated that about 40,000 people were in the complex, about half of them in the main building where he was with his wife and three daughters.
He said Hamas fighters continued to operate while staying at the compound.
Hamas members hid rockets and firearms by wrapping them in mattresses “daily,” Shamalah said, adding that the terrorists used fear tactics to carry out their activities with impunity.
“No one can say no to them. Who could do it? he said. “If you dare to confront a member of Hamas, he could kill you. »
Hamas chose the Red Crescent as its base of operations because “the large number of people there served as protection for them,” the man revealed.
“We became their human shields. It is obvious that the IDF would not strike a place housing 40,000 people,” he added.
In one segment, the captured fighter appears to disagree with the horrific tactics deployed by Hamas members.
“If they want to fight, use the battlefield, it is not acceptable that they use a place of shelter with so many people inside,” he said. “If one of their rockets, for example, exploded, it could kill 50 of us or more. »
He described the Red Crescent building and al-Shifa hospital as “the only places they could hide.”
Although the video interviews and the captions they contain could not be independently verified by The Post, the startling admissions reinforce Israel’s long-standing claim that the terrorist organization uses hospitals to hide its activities and conduct operations.
Israel has faced increasing criticism in recent weeks, including from its allies, as Israeli forces wage military campaigns in and around al-Shifa and other Gaza hospitals, which they say , were carried out on several occasions to eliminate Hamas members who used them as cover.
