WC Dec. Graduates Recognized at Seniors Luncheon

Wilmington College honored its December graduates with a special lunch and party on Wednesday, December 7 as they wrapped up their fall semester classes and prepared for final exam week, to be held on Friday, Monday and Tuesday December 9, 12 and 13.

WC President Trevor Bates congratulated the future graduates for making it this far, but stressed that they were not losing sight of finishing strong with successful final exams. He looks forward to interacting with them when they return as former WCs.

Senior Kayla Wyse was chosen to represent her fellow December graduates in offering a response. “It was a wonderful and unique experience for me at Dub C,” she said. “I would like to thank my teachers, staff and classmates for the time and effort they put in during my four years here.”

Students selected their favorite cuisine from their WC years — and catering service provider AVI was happy to oblige — from entree categories such as “Americana,” fish and chicken fillets; “Smoke and Fire”, chicken and cheese quesadilla; “Fusion”, sautéed beef or chicken; “Trattoria”, pizza for meat lovers and cheese ravioli; with broccoli and cheddar soup and assorted desserts.

On the eve of college study day before finals, many pending graduates celebrated their well-deserved status with an early evening rally at Tin Cap in downtown Wilmington hosted by the Office of elders and family commitment.

Some 95 students applied for the December graduation. Their status will not be finalized until all grades have been saved. December graduates will be invited to attend the College’s 147th anniversary on May 13 and associated activities.

Those present at the lunch were: Elisabeth Williams.
